S2B2 0032 – Hot for Teacherology (Fall 2011)

Course Description: Learn about the appeal of individuals engaged in pedagogical pursuits and the sundry responses to that appeal from a variety of sources. Examine how instructors develop relationships with various persons in their environments, including but not limited to students, advisees, employees, employers, critics, parents, and fellow teachers. Our interdisciplinary analysis and interpretation of specific examples will help shed light on these diverse and dynamic encounters. We will carefully consider these examples while also focusing on particular thematic issues, like betrayal and discovery and love. Develop appreciation for a variety of instructors and mentors, from the conventional to the magical, while you actively engage in the learning process through careful text study, short writing assignments in the form of comments, and class participation in forthcoming issues. NOTE: This course fulfills the BL/slash requirement for students enrolled in the queer studies certificate.
