Regarded by most people of good sense and taste as significantly disturbing, this is one of the few stories in the archive to have a content warning. It was put there at the author's insistence, but the editorial staff agreed that it was called for in this case. The original author's warning reads, '[AUTHOR'S WARNING: This story may be disturbing to... humans.]' The author is not wrong.
A gay man with crippling OCD is equal parts fascinated and repulsed by gay hookup culture in the 1990s, especially in light of AIDS. Wanting but not knowing how to find love, he sets out to build the perfect man. He just has to get the parts first.
You had to be so careful about blood these days.
This story includes graphic content, especially about lovingly dismembering attractive people. Nonetheless, it technically fulfills the SSBB requirements for a happy ending, and is a favorite of body horror afficionados.
The original title of the story was 'Cruising'.
Love Will Tear Us Apart (or, The Modern Pygmalion) is unconnected to other stories or universes.
