Please note: leaving a comment on a story and participating in the forums does not require a login. This is only required for direct messages and participating in user-created groups. Registering accounts for public comments is optional.
Your account doesn’t need to be local — you can register with your LiveJournal account, Twitter, OpenID, etc (you’ll have to edit your account to replace the dummy email address WordPress uses for external accounts if you want email notifications). If you’re shy and want true anonymity, though, you have the option of creating an account here that no one would recognize. No other users will see the email address you register with.
Registering an account gives you the option to send messages to the authors and illustrators directly. We’re hoping this will ease the anxiety around leaving brief ‘this is great!’-type comments that readers feel inarticulate posting publicly but writers and illustrators love receiving. It should be well-suited for threaded conversations, though of course no one is under any obligation to respond to a private message.
